Paula MacDonald

Chief Technology Officer

Paula MacDonald serves as the Chief Technology Officer, which includes oversight of all chemistry manufacturing and controls (CMC) for Virion Therapeutics, LLC. She has more than 20 years of experience in Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) testing, manufacturing operations, organizational management, and strategic planning. Paula has focused on facilitating the development, manufacture, and marketing of biologic products throughout her career. She co-founded and served as the President & Chief Executive Officer of Benten BioServices, a contract services organization that provided cGMP testing and manufacturing services to government agencies, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies. Before that, she held various senior leadership positions in the contract research organization industry, including Executive Director of Charles River Laboratories Biopharmaceutical Services Division and Vice President at Tektagen, Inc. Earlier in her career, she held several positions in bioengineering and the life sciences. Paula holds a B.S. in Biology from Fitchburg State University and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Paula brings her unique global technical, engineering and CMC experience in biotechnology, which includes leadership and development of these activities from discovery to full-scale manufacturing in infectious diseases and other chronic diseases.
